Blog Post 6: Week 6

With the growing use of technology in the classroom, a wide variety of online academic resources have been utilized by students. In my future classroom, I would like to give my students the opportunity to use two of the academic tools I have found helpful while being in school. The first tool is Quizlet, an online study aid that allows students to make flashcards and then directly engage with them by playing games, taking tests and studying. Quizlet is a tool that I have been using since high school, as it is simple, effective and very beneficial to my learning. The second tool I would like my students to have access to is Kahoot. Kahoot is a fun and interactive app that allows people to take timed quizzes in group settings, creating a learning environment that involves friendly competition.

Twitter has been a very fun tool for me to use during this class. It took some time for me to get accustomed to, but now that I understand how to use it I have found the Twitter assignment to be very useful! I have been interacting with various classmates and educational blogs, companies and government agencies. I absolutely think that this Twitter assignment is beneficial as it is teaching me how to use a very mainstreamed social media tool in an educational way. Twitter has the potential to be very beneficial in my future career as it is a way for me to connect with others in my field. Twitter is also a great platform for me to share my ideas with others and interact with the ideas of people I may not know.

    OH! how could I forget about Quizlet!!! I have also been using that since high school and even all the way into my third year of college! Definitely one of the best tools out there that I would want my students to use as well!! Im glad you're enjoying using Twitter so much!! I don't think I've had as much luck as you have with using it for this class, but I'm glad you've been able to interact with so many people!!

    Hi Gabi! I think Quizlet is definitely a great tool to use in the classroom! I have used that all throughout high school and college, and it has really helped me a lot. I especially love when teachers find ways to incorporate that into homework/studying since I’ve found that to be extremely beneficial. I also wrote about Kahoot in my blog post! I think it’s a great way to make learning fun in the classroom.

    Hi Gabi! Quizlet is such a great tool to use! I love that one and would love to have in my future classroom since it has helped me out so much in school. I also said that twitter is a great resource for teachers to connect with and get ideas off of each other. Great post!

Teacher pages are a very useful way to present incoming and current students and parents with relevant information regarding specific classes. I chose to visit the website of the school that I work at in Tallahassee: Holy Comforter Episcopal School. Blog Post 3: Week 3

Microsoft Word has been a large part of my education experience, from elementary school to college. My first memories using Microsoft Word revolve around learning how to type on a computer. Later on, I was given assignments in middle school technology class to help me learn how to better utilize MS Word and all the capabilities it has as an educational and professional tool. I use Microsoft Word for many things as a college-aged student. It has been my go-to program for essay writing and editing to professional document and content creation. I have seen teachers use MS Word as a way to provide feedback on assignments, using the "Comments" tool, as well as a general platform for creating and sending out study guides, assignment directions, checklists and much more. Blog Post 8: Week 8

Assistive and adaptive technologies are essential in every modern classroom setting. These tools are used to assist students with physical disabilities. Oftentimes, we forget that there is a population of students out there that require such assistance, so it is important to have technological aides available for use. I have never used such technologies and I don't recall ever seeing any type of technology like this used in the classroom. I don't perceive any challenges in using these types of assistive and adaptive technologies in the classroom, except for cost. Schools that are not well funded may not be able to afford the type of technology needed to support their physically disabled students.
