Teacher pages are a very useful way to present incoming and current students and parents with relevant information regarding specific classes. I chose to visit the website of the school that I work at in Tallahassee: Holy Comforter Episcopal School. They do not have specific teacher pages on their website, but they do have a page dedicated to showing faculty members. Their faculty page includes names, phone numbers, and emails of faculty for each grade                                                 https://www.hces.org/about/faculty?gId=3026 I have really enjoyed blogging as an assignment this semester! It is a great way for me to apply what I learn and interact with students in the class. I have always loved writing, so being able to blog for a class has been a great way for me to practice that skill as well as have fun with an assignment! I think that blogs ar...

Blog Post 6: Week 6

With the growing use of technology in the classroom, a wide variety of online academic resources have been utilized by students. In my future classroom, I would like to give my students the opportunity to use two of the academic tools I have found helpful while being in school. The first tool is Quizlet, an online study aid that allows students to make flashcards and then directly engage with them by playing games, taking tests and studying. Quizlet is a tool that I have been using since high school, as it is simple, effective and very beneficial to my learning. The second tool I would like my students to have access to is Kahoot. Kahoot is a fun and interactive app that allows people to take timed quizzes in group settings, creating a learning environment that involves friendly competition. Twitter has been a very fun tool for me to use during this class. It took some time for me to get accustomed to, but now that I understand how to use it I have found the Twitter assignment to be ...

An ELA technology standard I feel the most prepared to teach in the future is LAFS.5.RL.3.7, or,  "analyze how visual and multimedia elements contribute to the meaning, tone, or beauty of text". This ELA standard involves using different technological tools in the classroom to present a lesson on the components of text. I feel that this would be an easy standard for me to teach as I am very well versed with various multimedia tools such as Inspiration 9, Microsoft Office and ebooks on different platforms. On the other hand, a standard that would take time for me to learn would be LAFS.5.SL.2.5, or, "include multimedia components and visual displays in presentations when appropriate to enhance the development of main ideas or themes". This standard would take more time for me to learn and feel prepared to teach as I am not proficient in using tools such as iMovie, Pixlr, or audio recorder clips. The CPALMS Educator Toolkit is a great source to use as an educator as...

The Open Education movement has been integral in giving a wide variety of online learners the chance to partake in receiving an education without being constricted by circumstances. An example of an open education source is MIT's OpenCourseWare Project. This tool along with others gives people who are motivated to learn and have access to technology the opportunity to gain a quality education for free. Another example of Open Education is Open Content. This tool is used by teachers especially to access downloadable and shareable content that is free of charge. The materials provided by Open Content resources are available to be reused, redistributed, revised and remixed. These sources of content are valuable to teachers and schools that do not have the funds to pay for premium learning materials. Open Source materials are another type of open education resource, as its source code is available for anyone to access. This means that the software itself can be edited and used in diff...

Blog Post 3: Week 3

Microsoft Word has been a large part of my education experience, from elementary school to college. My first memories using Microsoft Word revolve around learning how to type on a computer. Later on, I was given assignments in middle school technology class to help me learn how to better utilize MS Word and all the capabilities it has as an educational and professional tool. I use Microsoft Word for many things as a college-aged student. It has been my go-to program for essay writing and editing to professional document and content creation. I have seen teachers use MS Word as a way to provide feedback on assignments, using the "Comments" tool, as well as a general platform for creating and sending out study guides, assignment directions, checklists and much more. I have experienced Copyright and the Fair Use of Education materials in mostly all of my classes. In all classes that I am in, writing papers with supporting information entails knowing how to correctly cite the i...
