One technology-related skill I would like to learn is Excel Spreadsheet skills. Despite using Excel for this week's assignment, I know there are many different tools within Excel that can be used for a multitude of things. I would like to get to know that application a bit more so that I can use it in more things I do. I think it would be a helpful tool for organization and file management. I will hopefully achieve this goal in the future and I plan on doing so by looking up online tutorials using other technological tools like Youtube and Microsoft Office Support.  Check out my comments on  Kayla  and  Margeux's  blogs!

As a future educator, I think that the best way to encourage technology professional development is through content-focused active learning. This method is very beneficial in helping teachers learn and problem solve. They get the chance to learn about technology while using it themselves. Being able to use technology in a hands-on way will enable teachers to solve problems in the classroom through the technology that they have available to them. Like I mentioned in the last blog, I thoroughly enjoyed working on the last two powerpoint assignments. Both a fun way to incorporate learning and creativity. Some new skills I acquired from these assignments were learning how to use powerpoint in a more advanced way, specifically being able to implement designs and buttons! The "flipped classroom" is a recent endeavor created by teachers to help students who have missed lessons catch up on their schoolwork. The general idea is that a teacher is able to record lessons to post before or after the class is taught in person, this way the information that was taught is accessible online. Although created to benefit absent students, it was soon noticed by teachers that students who were in class also used the flipped classroom feature to reinforce information they had already learned. This program is groundbreaking as it allows for class time to become a place where questions are asked and answered, problems are broken down and run through and teachers have time to work with students individually. Assistive and adaptive technologies are essential in every modern classroom setting. These tools are used to assist students with physical disabilities. Oftentimes, we forget that there is a population of students out there that require such assistance, so it is important to have technological aides available for use. I have never used such technologies and I don't recall ever seeing any type of technology like this used in the classroom. I don't perceive any challenges in using these types of assistive and adaptive technologies in the classroom, except for cost. Schools that are not well funded may not be able to afford the type of technology needed to support their physically disabled students. I envision myself using technology in my professional life often.
